My name is Dan Batto and I want to thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about my web design company.
In addition to Top Shelf Web Designs & Hosting I own a couple of small business's in Clifton Park NY, Top Shelf Catering and Northeast Bartender's School. If you are not familiar with the area we are 20 minutes north of Albany and 15 minutes south of Saratoga Springs in beautiful upstate New York.
With the grace of God, a supportive wife, many truly great customers, a lot of luck and the internet I have managed to keep both business's running for 29 years and counting.
I credit the internet for the continuation of my catering business, particularly over the past 11 years.
Tired of spending a sizable chunk of my profits on advertising as well as a desire to spend more time with my new born daughter, in 1998 I seriously considered closing my catering business. Catering is a business I love but is very time consuming especially on weekends when most families spend their time together.
So in 1998 I pulled all of my display yellow page advertising which was costing a little over $5000.00 a year. I assumed by stopping advertising new inquiries would eventually dry up and I would simply service my existing repeat customers until they too dwindled away.
Well it didn't quite work out that way.
What I didn't count on was the impact of a cheesy little web page I had posted on the new diversion everyone was talking about called the world wide web.
About 6 months after most people had thrown away last years phone book containing my last yellow page ad to make room for the new book, new event inquiries continued to come in. When I asked callers how they heard about us, over half would tell me they saw my web posting on the internet. I was dumbfounded to say the least, I had all but forgotten about that thing.
